All of us must have heard about the
various kinds of virtual trade shows. More and more frequently invitations to
attend like an event pop up in our inbox or we read about one in the RSS feed.
Though certainly online events have their own place, there are several reasons why
they won’t and should not, replace physical trade shows. There are several
reasons behind the popularity of virtual shows and events. Widespread internet
access, portability of computers and prevalence of smart phones and tablets
competent of attaining live feed all making stimulated experience a less costly
choice to traditional setting.
Smaller firms and businesses are likely
to attend virtual event or at least send more professionals to attend it than
they could with traditional event. Attending an event or trade show can be a
costly affair for exhibitors as they pay to be there through their trade booth
rental prices. Along with these factors, exhibitors need to offer an exhibit.
If they do not have portable pop up displays or even table top exhibits ready with them, they can attend an
event in person and choose a virtual one rather.
This can add up to more than a
small trade can handle. Even large businesses have shown interest in electronic
route as cost-cutting measure, but no matter how cheap a virtual show can be, it
cannot alter the single most significant function of traditional events, i.e. face
to face contact. Personal associations and face to face contact are some of the
biggest reasons why physical exhibitions will not be replaced by virtual
counterparts. Trade shows have always been about establishing relationships
with existing and potential customers. There are different tools required for
doing so. One of the commonly used tools is pop up display.
Trade show and events are about selling
and shopping. Questions and answers along with flow of conversation cannot be
copied in a virtual surrounding. Attendees can gather lot of information from pop up display stands and testing out
new items in person, but it is the personal connection that most of the time
makes sales secure and builds long lasting relationship. Moreover, to meet exhibitors and work your way
around a floor full of portable exhibits, island displays and table top
exhibits, meeting the attendees is also helpful.
Most of the industries are small than
most of us think and industry-specific events like trade shows are outstanding
place for colleagues to re-unite and reach each other. They prove to be useful for
exchanging information with your closed associates, learning about the recent
trends and challenges facing your industry and building or solidifying
relationships to assist your trade. Let us not forget the fun factor either. Most
of the exhibitions are held in exciting locations where people would love to
visit and the simple way of getting away from office can have a positive effect
on the rapport between the team and employee. That cannot be copied via a
computer. Though intangible, these features are worth remembering as they do
offer right value to your company via employee satisfaction.
